Audrey's Ballroom Dancing Instructor Audrey Umekubo has been teaching for over 25 years. She studied and trained at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Los Angeles, CA where she also began her teaching career. Audrey trained new instructors, has choreographed routines for shows and competitions, as well as competed in amateur and professional competitions. She has been teaching in Salina for about 15 years, where she has been involved with the Smoky Hill River Festival's Big Band Dance, Salina Arts and Humanities Art Infusion Program and Salina Chorale Spring Concert. She is a popular teacher of ballroom dance and dance exercise in Salina and surrounding communities.

Session I Introduction to Ballroom Dancing Date and Time of Classes Monday and Wednesday, September 8, 10, 15 and 17 For people who want to learn, but think they need extra TLC. Learn how to learn. Learn dance terminology. Learn how to move your body to the music without the stress of leading or following. A variety of dances will be used, such as salsa, cha cha, waltz, line dances, swing, tango... to teach balance, control and coordination. This class is designed for you to gain confidence before you dance with a partner in Session II and III. No partner necessary for Session I. If you do not have a partner for Session II and III, come to Session I, and you might meet someone. For Best Results, students should attend all classes in this session. Please wear comfortable shoes. Do not wear backless shoes. Session II Begining Waltz Date and Time of Classes Monday, September 29, October 6, 13 and 20 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm Partners only. In this session you will learn how to dance with your partner. You will learn the fundamentals to leading / following, good dance posture and how to fit the steps to the music. For Best Results, students should attend all classes in this session. Please wear comfortable shoes. Do not wear backless shoes.
Session III Beginning Salsa Date and Time of Classes Monday, November 3, 10, 17 and 24 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm Partners only. In this session you will learn how to dance with your partner. You will learn the fundamentals to leading / following, good dance posture and how to fit the steps to the music. For Best Results, students should attend all classes in this session. Please wear comfortable shoes. Do not wear backless shoes.
